LE SAKE EROTIQUE NUMERO UN , Junmai, Kimoto

· Sake Reviews

Obuse Winery, surrounded by a tranquil rural landscape is located in Obuse-cho, Nagano Prefecture, is a boutique winery that aims to produce high quality wine in small quantities.

The winery brews a very small amount of sake as a pastime, using only pure rice, which is Miyamanishiki produced in Nagano Prefecture, for a few weeks when they cannot work in the vineyards due to snow and the severe winter. Its main brand name is Sogga pere et fils. They say that it will go back to being a wine farmer in April without even a trace of sake production.

I have heard of sake breweries that also brew wine, but meeting sake brewed in a winery that is primarily a winemaker stirs my curiosity.

LE SAKE EROTIQUE NUMERO UN , Junmai,Kimoto

The explanation on the sake label states that the name "Sake Erotique" refers to the decadent flavor that only men and women who have experienced painful love and passionate romance can understand.

This junmai sake is made from 100% Miyamanishiki produced in Nagano Prefecture. The base of sake brewing, the sake mother, is made using the traditional Kimoto-zukuri method, in which lactic acid is cultivated from natural lactic acid bacteria.

Old Association No. 1 yeast is used (noted on the label for its nostalgia-inducing milky aroma). Polishing ratio 59%, alcohol 15%.

Pale champagne gold in the appearance. The aroma is like white grapes, peach, and raw rice (the aroma derived from rice) as the top nose. On the palate, it tastes like the top nose such as white grapes and peach, with the calm sweetness and the mild acidity. The aftertaste is clean and dry. The finish is short.
